Bideford show signs of improvement in Western Counties defeat to Falmouth

Bideford showed clear signs better times are around the corner in a 16-10 defeat at Falmouth.

After three prior defeats in Western Counties West and 80 points conceded, to lose by six and come back with a bonus point was a step in the right direction.

Out-of-sorts Kingsbridge are the visitors to King George V this Saturday and offer the opportunity of a first league win.

In a game of few highlights between two depleted teams – Falmouth due to a wedding and Bideford owing to well-documented injury issues – the difference between them was two second-half penalties.

The first half ended 10-all with Bideford coming from behind to draw level.

Falmouth’s Justyn Irons kicked a penalty then converted a try by former Barnstaple back-rower Tony Emmins.

Will Faro got Bideford on the board with a penalty then converted a breakaway try from skipper and man of the match Dean Folland.
