Bideford U12s v Tiverton U12s – Match Report(s)

Bideford were grateful to have a team turn up with 18 players allowing both teams to be able to play. It was decided that both Biddy teams would play a half of rugby against their Tiverton counterparts,  and then switch to ensure both teams got to play each other.

Tiverton were a great team to play against and their teams put in some great efforts. Below are the views from the coaches on the side-lines…enjoy!

First game lost – with a disallowed try due to Ollie over running dead ball area (it’s OK matt I don’t blame you for being a bit tight on the area! But we have you down for the first round at the coaches get together!)

One good effort from all the team for Olly S to scoot over the line. Jake playing an integral part in the nine shirt really helping to control the game.

Adam and Clark making lots of ground and a few off loads, when we got it wide lots of silky running from Ollie, George and Thomas.

Defensively Riley was outstanding tackling everything, with coach Simon was a bit worried if he moved to much Riley would have nailed him! Jakob and Ethan did a great job linking with the back line to ensure the ball went wide on several occasions only for a strong Tivy defence to hold us out.

Bideford moved up in a defensive line and it put lots of pressure on Tiverton and they didn’t have an answer to it. We just need to do it for the full 20!

Second game started much the same. Big lads running hard moving the ball well with Riley coming back on from injury to score the opening try which was worked well from the open play.

Tiverton came back to score. After sustained pressure on the Tivvy line the ball went loose for little Adam to gather and squirrel over for his first try in a Biddy shirt. But for the purposes of this try, Little Adam ran from deep skipped six tackles and bumped off the biggest player in the world to get over the line (Well done Adam the whole team is chuffed for you! )

Back came Tivvy in the dying stages to level with seconds on the clock we received the kick off made yards through silky running and after some big hits the ball finally come out to Thomas who beat several Tivvy players to score in the corner, with a glance to time keeper Matt who called time making up for small dead ball area!! The game won and great effort from all, and things to work on, but overall a great team effort.

Bideford v Tiverton

Match report 1

KO : Tivvy get us underway.

1-0 Ollie Garnett opens up the scoring hitting it up the middle like a knife through slightly warmed butter. Under the sticks from 40 yards

2-0 Solid phases of play and quick ruck clear outs from Caleb allows Harry to rampage through the middle for a try.

3-0 That man Ollie G apparently scores a try after a mazy run through the middle.

4-0 More quick rucks and Harry storms over from 5 out.

Finn Booth was the cause of a side line dispute with Matt saying it was a try and Alf saying it wasn’t…Finn came in and stole the ball to score. Finn has since removed Alf from his xmas list! Matt you are still on it!

5-0 Harry’s going to be picking up a hefty bar tab afterwards as he gets his hat trick. Like a galloping giraffe through the middle from 40 yards out

5-1 Tivvy get their first points on the scoreboard.

6-1 Instant response from Biddy. The bar bill gets bigger as Harry hairs up the pitch like a young Linford Christie.

7-1 as above. De ja vue. This guys got gas as well as strength. Harry from 70 yards out.

Match Report 2

Talk on the sidelines is on the young long haired centre Ollie Garnett. Fine player and they say he comes from good stables.

Teams switch around and Bideford to K.O

Commentators curse. Ollie G off with a neck Injury.

0-1 Tiv straight through the middle. Game on.

1-1 Biddy go toe to toe. Alfie with 2 of the biggest dummies since Laurel and Hardy sees him over the whitewash from 57 yards out. That was class and the crowd respond on their feet with huge applause

2-1 Harry continues his tally 20 yards out. Bar bill up to £14.35

3-1 Penalty move sees that man Harry over once again. Not quite a biddy banana move from the old days, but very close.

4-1 Caleb opens up his account after a morning of stealing balls at the breakdown with a try out wide from 40 yards out.

5-1 Nice phases sees Theo tip toe in like he should have been on last nights strictly.

6-1 Harry over from 1 off from the ruck

6-2 Honey potting gifts Tivvy a try on the wing.

6-3 Tivvy conclude the game with a well deserved try after some hard work at the breakdown.

– Full time –

Well played boys, lovely morning for Rugby, great attacking play all round and superb defence from Seb who was on fire with his tackling and Alfie, Caleb and Harry. Oli C and Finn ( some lovely little runs through the middle)  controlling the game from 9 and 10 with some good footwork out wide from Archie and new lad Kieren showing that he has a lot to offer  going forward.

Work needed on – must defend as a flat line , rather than 2 up and the rest behind.
