Bidford Ladies Report

Withycombe Vs Bideford

10-5

Bideford travelled to Withycombe RFC Ladies for the return match of the season on Sunday the 3rd of March. The squad of 15 travelled in heavy rain to the grounds, which luckily stopped on arrival. This, alongside rain overnight meant the pitch was due to be wet and muddy to play on.

The game kicked off with Bideford playing up the sloped pitch and Withycombe running hard. This rewarded Withycombe with two early, unconverted Try’s, making the score 10-0. 20 minutes in and Bideford began to switch on to the game. Great runs and courageous tackles were being made from both sides, and a high standard of handling considering the mud. Bideford were finally rewarded after phases of strong pack carries across the pitch. The ball then found the hands of left wing Sacha Nicol, who scored Bideford’s Try of the game in the corner. This left the first half at 10-5.

The second half was quite the mud wrestle, with both sides looking to punch through holes, and the other holding a strong defence with big tackles. Though there were a few more scoring opportunities for both sides, nothing materialised, ending the game on the half time score of 10-5.

Thank you to Withycombe for hosting us. Great bunch of girls to play, we looking forward to playing you next season.
