Bideford hosted Exeter Saracens for their latest pool fixture in the Devon cup. Bideford have joined with South Molton for cup fixtures and are playing as a joint team. Saracens took an early lead with a well worked try down the right flank. Exeter continued to dominate possession in the first quarter and scored their second try. Bideford kept their heads up and Izzy ran a great line to break the defence to get her first try of the afternoon. Both teams had good periods of possession and with centres from both sides making good lines breaks. Exeter managed to stretch their lead with a third try. In the second half Bideford started to become more dominant with the forwards breaking though to make the heard yards in the centre of the pitch. This created more space on the outside for the fast Bideford back to exploit. Bideford went on to score three unanswered tries, 2 further tries for Izzie and one for Zara. This took Bideford into a narrow lead with less than 10 minutes to go. Exeter fought back with a number of waves of attack within Bideford’s 22 and Exeter scored to bring the scores level. The Bideford girls should be very proud of their performance as their attacking running and superb handling left the crowd very entertained. Thanks to Exeter Saracens for travelling.
Back of the match went to Izzie for her fantastic display in both attack and defence picking up a hat-trick of tries.
The forwards worked exceptionally well together as a pack and should all be congratulated on their hard work, but forward of the match went to Ally for her all round performance.
