Home Soil, Presidents Lunch, and a Huge Test – It’s Matchday in Bideford

This weekend sees Bideford return to home soil as the second half of the season kicks off, with Crediton. With it being Presidents Lunch, a big crowd is expected, and with the usual loyal support behind the boys it promises to be a fantastic afternoon of rugby.

Crediton may have endured a tough first half of the campaign, but they’ve pushed several strong sides all the way and remain a threat to anyone in the league. They are a young, hungry outfit who play with real intensity. Expect a high-tempo contest, a physical pack who love to pick and go, and genuine pace out wide. Bideford will need to be sharp and disciplined, with first-phase ball crucial if they are to impose themselves and build pressure.

There’s good news on the selection front, with Dave Evans-Pearce, Ash Crouch (declared fit on Wednesday), and Kai Pett all returning to the fold. With Pearn and Terry away at the international this weekend, there’s added opportunity. and competition for places will certainly be heating up ahead of next week.

Elsewhere, the Quins and Colts have a weekend off, while the Ladies are in action on Sunday with a trip to Newton Abbot.

The Under 16s are at home in their quarter-final against Plymstock Albion Oakes, kicking off at 12pm at Kingsley School. Support is more than welcome for what promises to be a cracking encounter. This is a return fixture from their Under 14s meeting in the quarter final , a superb contest between two very evenly matched sides, so expect another thrilling battle.

Get down, get behind the teams, and let’s make it a great weekend for Bideford rugby.
