Unfortunately, Tiverton are unable to raise a side this weekend, meaning another Quins fixture has been cancelled. There is a real drive and desire within the Quins squad to push out of their current league and move into league rugby next season. With a strong group of Colts coming through the ranks, attention will now turn to the away fixture at Exmouth, which will serve as preparation for their final Merit Table clash with South Molton on 28/03/26.
On Saturday, the Under 16s will host touring side Thornbury. However, they will be missing no fewer than five players who have been given the opportunity to travel with the Colts to Minehead. 2 x GCSE exams and school open days and boxing bouts – good luck Riley! This presents a great opportunity for other players to stake their claim for selection ahead of next week’s semi-final, with the squad likely to be stretched due to several unavailabilities.
The Colts travel to Minehead with U16’s Seb Cackett, Finn Booth, Oli Cornish, Harry Parker and Ed Wensley all set to make their debuts at Colts level. The Colts came out on top when the two sides met earlier in the season, but Minehead will undoubtedly be a much stronger prospect on home soil this time around. With several senior Colts having already represented both the Chiefs and the Quins this season, this forms part of the development pathway promised by the coaching team. The aim is to strengthen the depth of players coming through while giving younger players a taste of Colts rugby and preparing them for the step up in future seasons.
