Captains BBQ

The Captains BBQ was held at the club on Saturday.

In a meeting prior to this season it was decided that the club needs to get back to the social events of past years and the Captains BBQ was the first of many.

Coach Mark Priest ‘ever the entrepreneur’ took down his own brand of sausages which proved very popular, especially with Pat Sanders who claimed them to be the best around! Of course we all know Pat is a professional when it comes to sausages. Thats the plug done for Priests sausages….hopefully earned my discount now!

Both the chiefs captain (Jono Mock) and Quins Skipper (Rob Faulkner) did their bit for the cause. Mocky bringing around 10 bottles of sauce which he later took home…. all of them. Rob was a bit more upper class and went shopping to Waitrose where he picked up 200 slices of cheese for 100 burgers! We wish both captains all the best for the coming season.

It was a family affair with partners and wives coming down for the night and proved popular with all.

Soon after the food was eaten the drinking took over and the lads had a great night, needless to say a few boat races and dirty pints went around but all in the true spirit of rugby.

Bideford is a family club with excellent ethos on and off the pitch. New members are made welcome as are their families. There will be a number of events which will be headed up by the club which we hope you will enjoy. There are more photos available on the website of the event. Thanks to all those who came along and a huge thanks to John Cox for lending the club his BBQ….invoice already on its way to Bernie for the gas .
