Morrell, who has taken over as coach from Dave Kimberley following relegation from South West One last season, said it was important to look at the bigger picture this early in the campaign.
Bideford struggled to get sides out below the first team all last season, but seem to have turned a corner in terms of player numbers.
“There is no need to panic just yet,” said the former Barnstaple second-row forward.
“We had a number of experienced players unavailable for the start of the season.
“We fielded a winning second XV and winnings colts team, so the bigger picture is a positive one.
“Don’t be surprised to see a bit of a turn around come October.”
Morrell takes Bideford to Chard this Saturday.
The second team were 19-7 winners over Torrington at King George V on Saturday.
