Newsletter – January 2021

We continue to be under RFU Stage A during the current lockdown, the COVID sub-committee will reassess the situation when the lockdown changes. It is highly unlikely that there will be any games to play this season. The Treasurer continues to oversee and collect any grants etc. due to the Club. WELL DONE BERNIE!

The JUNIOR U11s have been running and walking the distance from Lands End to John O’Groats to raise funds for new shirts, they have exceeded their target and so are continuing in their endeavours and plan to go around the rest of the UK!

LADIES AND JUNIOR GIRLS are completing a fitness challenge collectively running the distance between Lands End and John O’Groats (this highway must be crowded with all the Juniors and Ladies clogging the route!!!) Players coaches and parents are involved and this week have covered 422 miles already. WELL DONE TO YOU ALL.

SENIORS Training ceased after Christmas but a great positivity exists among the players who are very keen to return once the green light is given.

Our Webmaster, Robin Potter, still requires content for the web site. Please send suggestions and content to webmasterbrfc@gmail.com

A reminder – the Club still has running costs and if we restart training it will be a condition that all persons attending the Club must be a current member. If you would like to renew your subscription, please contact Steve Smith on bidefordrfcmembership@gmail.com for an application form.

We still await the permission and licence from TDC regarding these:

➢ Outside Pitch – further lighting is to be installed when the weather improves.
➢ We have been given permission to re-turf the cricket pitch and the licence for use of the area is being drawn up by TDC.

Looking to the summer and when we will, hopefully, be out of lockdowns, we are hoping to arrange some social events. Some initial thoughts: darts, evening quizzes, touch rugby/rounders with a barbecue. If you have any suggestions, please let John Cox know (email: johncoxx44@gmail.com phone: 07807 719572). Volunteers will also be required to help arrange the events.

Volunteers are required to help Shaun Norris on a Saturday or a Sunday with several maintenance jobs. Please contact him on 07843 096493 if you can help.

Stuart May is extremely grateful to all those who have responded to his plea and taken 200 Club subscriptions. Should anyone else wish to subscribe it is just £24 annually with the chance to win either £100, £25 or £10 each month with an extra £250 on Boxing Day. Please contact Stuart (email: stuie.may49@gmail.com phone: 01237 478400/07854 942660) to set things up.

We will continue to provide this Newsletter bi-monthly, any feedback on content will be welcome to Steve Smith bidefordrfcmembership@gmail.com
