Newsletter – March 2021

The light at the end of the tunnel is NOT a train coming but illumination of our way out of this terrible pandemic, but we must continue to observe the rules set down by the Government and the RFU. Please read and digest the report from the COVID team which is attached again.

CLUB COACH – Hello everyone, I hope you’ve all managed to keep safe during this latest lockdown. As we see measures easing, we can look forward to welcoming the return of rugby.

I’m happy to announce that the Seniors will be returning to training as of early April until the end of May which would have marked the end of this season. At this point, the decision has been made that we will not partake in any fixtures until at least next season.

Training will take place once a week on a Friday evening. These sessions will consist of light conditioning, skills, and touch games to ease the boys back into a training routine. I would also like to take the opportunity to invite any 2nd year Colts who will be transferring to senior rugby as of July to come down and join us in these sessions.

I’m sure you’re as eager as myself to see the return of community rugby and I look forward to seeing you all at our next home fixture.

Any concerns or queries, please feel free to contact me. In the meantime, stay safe.
Jordan Petherbridge
Club Head Coach

COLTS – Welcome back. Training commences on Wednesday 31st March.
LADIES (Vixens and Junior Ladies) – Training will commence on Wednesday 31st March.

The ladies are still on their 6 Nations triathlon, having visited all stadia in the competition. At present they are on the return leg to Twickenham. The total distance travelled is 3462.1 miles!! A marvellous effort and congratulations to all taking part.

BOBs – Training will commence at 19:00 hrs on Friday 2nd April. Jon Turner informs me that he has had calls from Ilfracombe and Topsham who want to play next season. Keith Moses is still optimistic about the trip to Landivisiau (September onwards).

Seniors – A separate advice of the return date will be sent by Bernie shortly.

JUNIORS – Welcome back. Training starts on 31st March. Your coaches will be informing you all of times etc. It will be good to see you all enjoying rugby again.

With all teams returning to training please ensure you have paid your subscription for the current season BEFORE starting to train.

If you would like to renew your subscription, please contact Steve Smith on bidefordrfcmembership@gmail.com for an application form.

The opening of the Club House will be reviewed, and it is hoped that we will be able to view matches on TV in May and June. All dates will be reported in the next Newsletter.

➢ Lights – still ongoing. Expect them to be in use by next season.
