Newsletter – May 2021

As you will recall from a previous communication John Cox resigned from his position as Chairman, but he received an enormous amount of support from within the Club and on reflection he is willing to stand again. He thanks everyone for their support especially David Leworthy who was willing to step in at short notice. [ED: Can we all remember that the Club is run by a committee of unpaid volunteers.]

SENIOR MEN – Pre-season training starts on Thursday 1st July.

LADIES (Vixens and Junior Ladies) – The Senior Ladies and Junior Ladies came together on Saturday 22nd May for a game of touch, both teams have clearly benefitted from extra training time as there were some truly amazing displays of rugby.

The Senior Ladies continue to train twice a week with slowly increasing numbers.

JUNIORS – The Junior section intend to keep taking through the summer whenever possible and to include some beach-based sessions too. Each age group coach will determine if they will continue and for how long.

The Junior kit shop will remain available throughout the summer months.

All subscriptions for the Adult Players and Members become due on 1st August. A letter with the amounts due per Membership category will be sent separately when the rates have been agreed by the Committee. Membership cards and Club books will be issued when available. The Junior section will advise their own details. Thank you to all who renewed their subscription this past season despite the limited use of the Club that was available and the lack of matches. We also remind you that this is a Membership fee which entitles you to use of the Club and facilities, it is not a match fee.

On the proviso that COVID restrictions are eased on 21st June a full committee meeting will be held on 22 June. Please let John Cox or David Leworthy know if you have any agenda items.

There was a successful return last Saturday to televising matches in the Clubhouse with table service, thank you to all who came and observed the COVID regulations. For future matches table reservation is not required but observation of the COVID rules is.

Premiership matches will be shown on May 29th and June 5th KO 2pm and the final round “Super Saturday” on 12th June KO 3pm.

The Premiership semi-finals are scheduled for 19th June but, as yet, no kick-off times announced. If one match is brought forward to Friday 18th then we will only show that match if it involves Exeter. Saturday matches will be shown in any case.

The Premiership Final will be shown on Saturday June 26th and depending on kick-off times there might also be an opportunity to show all or some of the British Lions versus Japan match.

Please continue to observe the advice from the COVID team and even though restrictions may be relaxed in June, masks must still be worn, and hands sanitised etc.

Lights – still ongoing. Expect them to be in use by next season.
Seating – the bench seating in the Club house main bar has been recovered.
