Bideford 2nd team hosted Ilfracombe 1st team on Saturday. With Ilfracombe bottom of the table they certainly were a better side than the table would predict. Both teams gave everything in the first half with Bideford leading 14-10 going into the break with tries from Kieron Morgan and Billy Teape both converted by new signing Ashley Baker. Ilfracombe responded quickly into the second half with a converted try resulting in a lead of 17-14 leaving Bideford to chase the game resulting in a well worked try from Richard Norman. With ten minutes to go Bideford gave away three penalties and the visitors kicked a penalty giving them the advantage 20-19. With minutes to go Bideford dug deep and loyal club vet Stephen Dean who turned up to help out collected the ball from a ruck to score under the posts with Baker trusted boot finishing off. Final score 26-20 was certainly one to celebrate for Bideford but credit to Ilfracombe who gave their all and both teams certainly kept the spectators on their toes.
