Season Kicks Off This Weekend!
Rugby is back! The first league fixtures get under way this weekend, and there’s plenty to look forward to across the club.
Chiefs
After a tough season last year, the Chiefs begin their new campaign with a challenging away trip to Honiton RFC. Honiton finished second last season and are tipped to be strong contenders again, boasting an experienced and well-drilled squad.
The Chiefs line up brings together youth and experience. Returning stalwarts Pat Sanders, Sam Olde, David Evans-Pearce, and Mark Schofield provide the “old guard” presence, while pace and flair out wide promise some exciting rugby on show.
Quins
At home, the Quins face local rivals Torrington in what promises to be a cracking season opener. Led by Manager Ben Braddick and Captain Danny Braddick, the squad has been training hard and looks sharper than ever.
The forward pack is boosted by the return of former Chiefs Richard Norman, Brodi Brennan-Wilson, Zack Powell, and Tom Shovelton, while the back line features plenty of firepower with Freddie Palmer, Jordan Taylor, Sam Picillo, Mitch Harris, and Billy Teape all pressing their case for future Chiefs selection after strong pre-season performances.
Colts
The Colts get their campaign underway at home to South Molton (12pm kick-off) their first outing since last season’s U16s stepped up. With fresh talent joining a solid core of second-year Colts, there’s a real buzz about the squad. Coaches Matt Tithecott, Rob Parish, and Jason Sussex are confident the group will gel quickly and deliver some exciting rugby this year.
Around the Club
We’re also hopeful the brand-new decking area will hopefully be ready for the first home fixtures , a perfect spot for supporters, old and new, to enjoy the rugby.
