This weekend sees our first league home match of the season as we host OPMs. They may be something of an unknown quantity to Biddy, but if history is anything to go by, we can expect them to be a strong and physical side.
Following last week’s game, there are a couple of enforced changes to the squad. Unfortunately, Ned Pettifer is sidelined with a possible recurring knee injury, and we all wish him a speedy recovery. Will Bliss is also unavailable after an impressive debut performance. This opens the door for Ollie Hedden, who steps in at flanker, and Hector Kuenzler-Byrt, who takes on the role of finisher.

OPMs come into the game with a new coach at the helm and fresh from an impressive win over Crediton Seconds. With a few new faces added to their side, it promises to be a tough encounter – but all in all, a cracking game is in store.
We’re delighted to welcome our match sponsors, Chantal Law Fitness and Pilates, who will be in attendance this weekend. Their ongoing support is greatly appreciated – please do take a look at their website linked below.

After the game, the club will host its first social event of the season with live music from The Hoodoo Man The Hoodoo Man Music | Facebook. The bar will be open late, hot food will be served, and it promises to be a fantastic evening for all.

Elsewhere, the Quins make the short trip across the bridge to face local rivals Barnstaple. With Barnstaple adding a number of signings over the summer, including some familiar local faces, they will have plenty to prove even in their third team. Quins enjoyed a great start to their season with a strong win over Torrington, and while there were standout individual displays, it was the overall team performance that most impressed the coaches. Expect another exciting contest for those making the journey.
Our ladies also kick off their season this Sunday with a trip into Cornwall for a local derby. Under the guidance of new coach Tim Cramp, the squad has been working hard on their game plan, and with numbers high there is plenty of excitement ahead of the opener. With new captain Hannah Bright leading the way, the team is ready to rise to the challenge.
Finally, on Friday night under the lights, our Under-16 Girls face Bude at home in a 7pm kick-off. It’s a fantastic opportunity to come down and show your support ahead of a busy weekend of rugby.
