Bideford to Compete in New Harpers Cup Clash at Bude
Although there are no league or national cup fixtures this weekend, Bideford will still be in action as they travel to Bude to contest the newly formed Harpers Cup.
The inaugural competition, sponsored by Harpers Home Mix, will see the first leg hosted at Bude, with the return fixture scheduled for later in the season at Bideford. However, an added twist to the rivalry could come in the form of a potential meeting between the two sides in the National Cup.
Following a strong showing in last weekend’s match, Quins vs Bude , several players have put their hands up for selection. The coaching team sees this as a valuable opportunity to test out new combinations and give some fresh faces a chance to shine. With a few senior players unavailable due to other commitments, it’s a real chance for others to step up and be counted.
The Quins have racked up an impressive 189 points across their last three games, but Bude’s first team is expected to pose a much sterner test. Last season, Bude delivered a heavy blow to the Chiefs at Bideford, but the return fixture in Cornwall was a far closer contest , arguably one of Bideford’s best performances of the season.
Bude are known for their physicality up front and clinical finishing out wide, so the Chiefs will need to be at their best to come away with a result.
Colts at Home This Weekend
For supporters not travelling to Bude, there’s still plenty of rugby to enjoy at home, with the Colts in action. Last weekend, the young side put in a spirited performance against a well-drilled Crediton team, making their coaches proud, especially considering many are first-year Colts.
This weekend they face a similarly tough test in Sidmouth, and home support can make all the difference. Get down and cheer them on as they continue their development.
Saturday Night Entertainment – Silent Disco!
Join us after the England Roses game for a Silent Disco at the club. A great match followed by a night of music, fun, and definitely some questionable singing and dancing , not to be missed!
