After a quieter weekend at the club, things are heating up again with plenty of rugby on the horizon! The Chiefs are back in action this Saturday, travelling to take on Withycombe, while both the Ladies and Colts are set for games on Sunday.
Chiefs Hit the Road to Withycombe
The last time Bideford met Withycombe, you might remember the unforgettable night when Tumbles Vallance could be heard yodeling for port well into the early hours! It was quite the occasion. Gus Meredith also had a day to remember (or perhaps forget) , stepping in at prop for a game of passive scrums, only to take a knock after boldly declaring, “I don’t know what all the fuss is about, these scrums aren’t so hard!”
Withycombe are always tough opponents, especially at home. They’ve picked up some impressive results recently, including wins over Crediton and Dartmouth, so Bideford will need to be at their best. The break has allowed a few niggling injuries to heal, and with several players returning to training this week, the coaches will have some tough selection calls to make.
Colts Back in Action
The Colts also return after a week off and will be playing Minehead at home on Sunday. After a solid result against Tavistock, the lads will be eager to keep the momentum going. The senior Colts continue to lead by example, helping guide the younger players through the season.
A special mention goes to Harvey Beal, who earned his first-team debut against Helston in the Cup, a great example of how the club is committed to developing young talent through to senior rugby. Go well, lads!
As the Minehead Colts travel to Bideford, a select squad of Biddy Beys are making the reverse trip, destination Butlins, to celebrate Adrian “Kato” Squires’ 50th birthday!
Happy birthday, Kato, and good luck to all those brave enough to take on the weekend!
Ladies on a Roll
Crampy’s Ladies are flying high with five wins from five! After last weekend’s impressive victory over Bude, they now face Newton Abbot, a side they’ve already beaten this season , but won’t be taking lightly. The team has been in fine form and will be looking to make it six from six, with plenty of Biddy supporters cheering them on from the sidelines!
