Bideford Ladies travelled just over border to Bude, the county where they put the Cream and Jam on the wrong way round!
With a much changed lineup from the previous week, Bideford went straight into the game gunning for it. The match started with a to and fro in to each sides’ halves, before a blinding run on her debut from Yasmin King on the far side of the pitch made the score 0-5.
With Bideford in possession much of the game, they worked their way back up the pitch where a penalty was awarded for a high tackle against Bude! Following an injury delay and carrying 57 opposite team players on her back, Gabie Archer powered over the line to up the score 0-10 to Bideford.
Following this, some scrummaging and heavy carrying from the forwards allowed the backs to make play some great moves, setting up Yaz for her second try of the game before having to check on her newborn at half time! 0-15 to Bideford.
Bideford started the second half on the front foot with powerful forwards driving the ball down the pitch. Some great carrying in the second half from Simona, Amber, Buddha, Ruth and Hannah, Gabie and Daisy alongside their dominate rucking. This once again unlocked the backs who worked it out to the wing where fullback Scarlett Davies got it as close to the posts as possible to make the score 0-20.
Bideford finished off the game with some great lines and backs moves – shipping the ball out with ease ending with Mia Wray diving over for their 5th try.
Unfortunately, the game was called off early due to a Bude injury, with the hosts down to 12 a side by the end. Bideford would like to thank Bude for a great game and their hospitality, and wish all injured players a quick recovery.
A fantastic effort from all Bideford players today!
Forward of the match went to VC Gabie Archer, mainly for her good behaviour, alongside some dominate runs and tackles.
Back of the match went to Yasmin King for her fantastic runs on the wing, and scoring two trys on her debut while also tending to mothering duties on the sideline.
The Ladies are running out at home this Sunday 9th November, as they welcome back Newton Abbot to KGV. Following Bideford’s 19-10 cup win against NA last month, those all important league points are now on the cards.
We hope to see you on the sidelines for a 2:30pm kick off!
