This Boxing Day, we’re giving a long-standing tradition a fresh and meaningful twist. Instead of our usual fixture against Barnstaple, we’re thrilled to launch a brand-new Community Charity Event, a celebration of rugby, togetherness, and the spirit of giving back. This special day is designed to unite players, families, supporters, and the wider community in support of the local organisations that make a real difference all year round.
A Full Day of Rugby and Community Spirit
The festivities will kick off with pre-match rugby from our junior players, whose enthusiasm and energy are guaranteed to warm up the crowd and set the tone for the day ahead. Their involvement is a reminder of what our club stands for, community, development, and the joy of the game.
The Main Event: Charity Showcase Match 2.30pm kick off
This year’s headline match will see
Children’s Hospice South West (Club Select Team)
take on
North Devon Hospice (Exiles and Patriots).
The teams will feature a vibrant mix of students returning home for the holidays, former players back in the area, and familiar faces from across our rugby community. The result? A fun, competitive, good-natured showdown that reflects everything great about grassroots rugby.
While the rugby promises to be exciting, the true purpose of the day is even more meaningful, raising funds and awareness for two incredible local charities. Both Children’s Hospice South West and North Devon Hospice provide vital support to families facing some of life’s toughest challenges, and we’re proud to champion their work.
Festive Fun On and Off the Pitch
This event is much more than a match, it’s a chance for everyone to come together as clubmates, supporters, neighbours, and friends. Alongside the rugby action, there will be:
- Music and festive entertainment throughout the day, Live Music in the evening,
- Both the Sin Bin Bar and the main club bar open, serving drinks to keep everyone warm and cheerful
- Opportunities to win fantastic rugby prizes, including signed shirts and other exclusive items
- Plenty of chances to donate, support, and learn more about the two charities we are honouring
