Away Day Weekend for the Whole Club

Another big weekend of rugby lies ahead, with the Chiefs, Quins, and Colts all in action. All fixtures are away, which will hopefully give our home pitch some much-needed recovery time after the recent horrendous weather.

The Chiefs make the trip to Tavistock, a side we know well from last season’s league campaign. It was a tough visit last year, and we’re expecting nothing less this time around. Tavistock are a combative outfit who’ve had a mixed run of results and currently sit mid-table, coming off a defeat to Crediton. One thing’s certain, they’ll be up for the challenge. Fingers crossed the higher-ground pitches drain well enough for the game to go ahead. The Chiefs are eager for a competitive hit-out after last week’s friendly against Dartmouth and will refocus in Wednesday’s astro session to ensure preparation isn’t disrupted by the weather. A few returning players should bolster the squad, and the coaches will keep a close eye on any knocks carried over.

The Quins, currently second in the league with two games in hand over leaders Ilfracombe, travel to Torrington. The hosts have recently turned in strong performances against Barnstaple and Crediton, so it promises to be another lively local derby. Torrington know how to use their pitch well, expect plenty of play in those notorious bottom corners. Weather may again slow things down, but it should still be a cracking game up at Donnacroft, with “Bread of Sandford” ringing out loud and proud.

The Colts head to Sidmouth for a cup clash. Having faced them earlier in the season, the lads will be keen to put in a big performance and push for the win—weather permitting, it should be another excellent contest.

Finally, everyone at the club sends their best wishes to Sophie Folland for a speedy recovery after what appears to be a nasty leg break last Sunday against Devonport. We hope her surgery has gone well and that her road to recovery is firmly underway.

Best of luck to all our teams this weekend!
