This week sees the Chiefs back in league action as they take on Tavistock at King George V Fields.
Bideford and Tavistock are well acquainted, and fixtures between the two sides are always fiercely contested. The last meeting was decided by just a single point in Bideford’s favour, and another close encounter is expected. Tavistock come into the match in strong form, with recent victories over Crediton, Ivybridge, and OPMs. They are a physical side up front, complemented by a capable and dangerous backline.
Following a break over the bank holiday, the Chiefs are boosted by the return of several key players. Folland, Smale, Priest, Terry, Crouch, Short, Jack Balsdon, and Joey Faulkner are all expected to be available after missing the trip to Dartmouth. Competition for places remains high, particularly with several Colts players stepping up impressively this season.
Unfortunately, Liam Blasdon has been ruled out for the remainder of the season due to an eye injury, although he is making excellent progress in his recovery.
Colts Impress
There was an outstanding turnout for the Colts last Friday as they secured a fantastic victory over previously unbeaten Trojans. Several players delivered eye-catching performances, giving the Chiefs coaching staff plenty to think about and highlighting exciting potential for next season.
Other Senior Rugby
Quins, having already secured top spot in the merit table, do not have a fixture this weekend. Their focus now turns to preparations for the Harpers Cup next week.
The Ladies are at home this Sunday against Wellington in a league fixture. Currently sitting 5th, they continue to make great strides this season. Wellington, who sit 3rd in the league below, could potentially be opponents again next season should promotion come into play.
