The Bideford Ladies Rugby Team has established itself as one of the most exciting and determined sides in Devon women’s rugby. Known for their grit, teamwork, and strong community spirit, the Ladies continue to raise the bar season after season. In the 2024/25 campaign, the squad battled hard and secured a fantastic third-place finish in the league, a reflection of their consistency, determination, and the never-give-up attitude that has become their trademark. Beyond league success, the team also celebrated individual honours, with three players selected to represent Devon for the fourth consecutive year—a proud achievement that underlines the strength of talent within the squad. These representatives went on to make it all the way to Twickenham for the finals, flying the flag for Bideford on one of rugby’s biggest stages. This year, leadership will come from a strong pairing: Captain Hannah Lovering-Bright and Vice-Captain Gabie Archer. With years of playing experience between them, they bring not only knowledge and tactical awareness but also a huge passion for the game. Their guidance will be invaluable both on and off the pitch as the team continues to grow. The 2025/26 season marks an exciting new chapter, as the Ladies welcome a fresh coaching squad of Tim Cramp, Aaron Taylor, Jack Blight, and Dan Blight. Together, they bring a wealth of rugby expertise and fresh energy, aiming to build on last year’s momentum and develop the squad even further. As the only women’s rugby team in North Devon, the Bideford Ladies are proud to welcome everyone who wants to give the game a go—whether you’re a seasoned player or picking up a rugby ball for the first time. Training takes place every Wednesday at 7 pm at Bideford Rugby Club, with matches played on Sundays. With a packed fixture list, the return of the junior cup competition, and a squad filled with both experienced players and promising new talent, the Bideford Ladies are ready to make this season one to remember.
