We are Bideford Ladies! We are a growing squad from beginners to
playing for Devon at representative county level. We welcome all women
and experience with a love for the game. We enjoy both training and
the social aspect of the game, so it's not all work and no play! Not
only will you be a part of a team but you will become a part of an
ever expanding family, that you will come to rely on as a support
network. We are fortunate enough to have the support of 4 coaches,
accompanied by our team first aider/Physio. You can find us training
on a Wednesday at Bideford Rugby Club from 7pm until 9pm, and also on
a Sunday from 9am until 11am (when we don't have a game). If you would

Sunday 18th February - A complete team effort on the road
Bideford went on the road today after fingers crossed for playable pitch conditions after the weekends rain! Totnes pitch drained well and while muddy and slippery game goes ahead!
First whistle goes and Sarah Taylor-Salkeld came bolting out the gates with Bideford's first try converted by Liv Taylor. Quick to restart and go again Esther Miles goes over the line giving Bideford a busy start, conversion missed. Totnes tighten up and put up a strong defence against a pressuring Bideford, time for the forwards to up the ante.
Plenty of scrums and line outs in greasy conditions which were hard fought by opposition Totnes. Eventually a break from Ruth Boundy sees the third try of the match followed by another for Sarah Taylor-Salkeld. Half time whistle rings out and it’s time for a breather for everyone, game stands at 0 - 22.
Second half gets going and Liv Taylor gets a try which is converted by Mollie Osment. Flanker Hannah Daniel adding to the Bideford lead with another try and a second conversion for Mollie. Plenty of strong carries from forwards including Jess Hayes saw Bideford break the line well. Chloe ‘The Wall’ Spearman comes off the bench to put in some thumping tackles and have her impact on the game.
Not content with conversions Mollie goes for her own try, oops it’s the 5 metre line, she claims a slip, the jury is still out…
The forwards were working hard and grabbing turn overs at ruck time. Kat Crossley dots another try for Bideford and Mollie makes up for her white line fever and sends another through her he sticks. Tessa Cleave goes over the white line and takes us tantalisingly close to 50 points. Amber Hallman gets a rumble on and dives across with the final score of the game.
A complete team effort from the forwards and the backs to get in to full Bideford Swing.
Final Whistle:
Totnes 0 - 53 Bideford
Back of the match: Liv Taylor
Forward of the Match: Sarah Taylor-Salkeld
Sunday 4th February - Well Earned Home Win
We had a slightly slow start, letting Helston through the defence in the first 10 minutes but we regrouped and knew a job needed to be done. Esther brought her determination in bucket fulls today which saw her dive over the line to equal out the score 7-7 (converted by Liv). We continued to work well as a team, passing the ball quickly and accurately in order to help Amber score our second try of the game which was then effortlessly converted again by Liv. Helston then managed to squeeze in a second try before the half time whistle which was not converted. Going into half time at 14-12.
We rocketed into the second half seeing Zi and Joy both scoring tries as well as Esther adding 2 more onto the scoreboard. All supported amazingly by the rest of the team. We were sitting at 38-12 with only a few minutes left. Helston showed absolute grit and managed to weave through our defence for a third time to score just before the final whistle. This concluded the match at 38-19.
Sunday 21st January- Bideford Ladies Vs Bude Ladies
Today saw some absolutely horrendous rain and wind which made the pitch conditions worse by the minute.
During the first half, the wind and nearly horizontal rain was blowing against our faces.
This saw every kick and attempt to clear the ball get blown back towards our try line, making getting down the pitch seem impossible.
We had some good runs but couldn’t break through Bude’s defences. Bude scored within the first half but did not make the conversion.
Half time meant more heavy rain but this time the wind was with us. Liv scored down the right wing which was supported on the way by every player’s grit and determination.
This put us at 5-5 (no conversion). We continued to fight to the end and managed to finish at a draw.
Well done to Charlotte on her second game (sorry we forgot to shout out your first!)
Forward of the match: Michelle
Back of the match: Tessa (plus her first game!)
Thank you to Vick, Charlotte and India for helping Bude out with their numbers.
